Answered by Dr.Ramani : The course of allergic asthma as the children grow varies. The symptoms improve around puberty in some of them and later seen as asthma in their adolescence. The airways in asthmatic child will be more susceptible to infections or allergens like the pollens or dust. These medicines will help to improve the immunity and will relieve the symptoms. Ayurvedic medicines like Divya Swasari Kwath, Organic breathe free capsules and Vasavleh can be taken for a month and then reviewed. Include garlic, ginger, berries, long pepper, tulsi, honey and turmeric. Reduce excess meat, refrigerated foods, oil, sugar and salt. Yogasanas like Navasan, Matsyasana, Dhanurasana, Ustrasana, Trikonasana, Padmasana and Bhujangasana are beneficial. Pranayamam like anuloma and viloma will be beneficial which can be practised everyday.

Answered by Dr.Vijay : Hello, Usually in children do suffer from allergic reactions due to lack of immunity power or less immunity power which may be resulting continuous cough, and respiratory illness like wheezing, breathing difficulties etc. Though allopath medicines do give temporary relief, with the help of ayurveda and alternative therapies, and yoga and pranayama, we can control the reoccurrence and even we can prevent the progress. There are many home remedies and even ayurveda medicines, which has to be consumed for long term to get better results. Simple anuloma-viloma pranayama also very helpful to control this problem. Ask him to avoid consuming oily foods, or spicy foods if any. Even cold refrigerated items also has to be avoided. Question: Dear Doctor Ji My Son is 9 years old and lately we have noticed asthmatic attacks whenever he even catches cold. His breathing becomes really hard and to such a point that he needs to get Albuterol solutions in a nebulizer every 4 hours (pro-Air) & QVAR (2 puffs 2 times a day). When he was young he had eczema as well allergy issues (peanut, eggs, cashews, milk etc). His eczema is better now and it went away after 7 ~ 8 years of age but the food allergies are sthill there. Also now the doctor says that his eczema might have converted to Asthma. Other that this he is just fine with normal growth and no other medical isues. He exercise well and eats well. Our family have no history of exzema or Allergies. We nned you help!! Please let me know how can he get better Thanks !!
Answered by Dr.George : Dear father. Regards from my yog. Sorry for being late to answer your question. Your child has faced both eczema and asthma. Both are triggered by certain allergic conditions. I feel it is not right to say asthma is due to eczema. May some immune suppresent medicines used for eczema cause asthmatic symptoms. Let it be. Asthma is a condition where airways of lungs are blocked which cause breathing difficulty. As far as the better management is concerned continue the medications as such now. Never allow the child exposed to any cold food stuffs,Give him luke warm bath daily, No heavy exercises. Never allow any respiratory infections to run in his body for more than one week .Some how manage that. You can give him Dasamoola rasayana one spoon at night time. If the child is less exposed to asthmatic attacks after this consult your doctor and reduce the medications . Do contact us for any more help Regards Dr George
Question: Namaskar Guruji, My Mother have been suffering asthma and cough since 10 years, and her condition is very bad and she is not stand up and do not sleeping in bad she is sit down and sleeping sometime. She lost her strength and cannot talk other person please help me sir.
Answered by Dr.Ramani : In acute attacks with severe dyspnoea or wheezing and low energy levels, it would be better to consult your nearest Allopathy doctor. Supplemental oxygen, nebulisation and oral steroids may be required to reduce the severe inflammation in the airways. In chronic conditions, when the symptoms are manageable, Ayurvedic medicines can be given as supportive medicines to improve the function of the lungs. Ayurvedic medicines like Divya Swasari Kwath, Talisapatradi churnam - 1tsp after food thrice daily with honey, Brihat Vat Chintamani Ras and Dasamoola Rasayanam - 1/4tsp thrice daily after food can be taken for a month and then reviewed. Include olive oil, pepper, garlic, ginger, tulsi, turmeric and honey. Reduce excess canned foods, meat, cold refrigerated foods, ghee, refined flour, oil, dairy products, salt and sugar. Gentle breathing can be practised as it will involve the lower portion of the lungs.
